3. Geography + History = Sociology

To help you visualize we will watch a video about the geography, history and culture of Texas.
Choose a map from Bing or Google images which shows all of Texas and as many geographical features as possible.  Print a copy of the map you have chosen and sketch your route through Texas on it. Write a clear plan for your family's trip, to include the following:
Where do you plan to enter Texas? This depends on your current location. From what country are you traveling?
How are you traveling—boat, wagon, horse, on foot? Or will you need a combination of transportation types?
How many rivers, mountains, deserts, plains (etc.) will you need to cross?
What do you plan to take with you and how will you transport it?
Looking at your map, what problems do you think (or fear) you will encounter?

  1. If I was moving to Texas from Spain I would study the state and find out where I would want to live.Next I would pack up what I would need, like horses, food, clean water to drink and clouths.Next I would sail in a boat to the side of Texas that I want to live on and once I hit land get things ready. Finaly I would start to bild my house and start a new life.

  2. I would enter from the northeast by wagon. After about 3 miles I would turn south so I can reach an urban area. I would go to an Dallas so there will be jobs, food, and areas to live in.I would go there by wagon so I can get there faster. The only problem is the extreme rainfall & a higher crime rate than non urban areas.

  3. If I were to move to Texas I would need to take about from Germany and land at Galveston Bay. At that point we would buy supplies like guns for hunting big game, clothes, food, tents, and matches. From there we send are supplies down the river covered in plaster to keep it dry. Then we start to hike and trade with pioneers for better supplies. We travel like that for a few weeks. When we hit the first mountain we pack our supplies and start a wagon train. We travel for a month going strait. Then we travel around the caddoe a Indian tribe and we start to build are homes .I would live there because there is nice mountain ranges were I could hunt and I would have plenty of mountain goats. I would also live near Caddoe land so I could trade meat for clothes and supplies. The area also has up to 50to80 inches of rain and there would be plenty of streams ere I could get water and catch trout.

  5. If I were to move to the Gulf Coast in Texas I would come sailing from Mexico.I would bring some extra saftey boats just in case a hurricane sinks my boat.I would also bring food and supplies with me.I would also face some dangers which are hurricanes and the karankawa. When I would get there I would get a cannon from my boat and fire it to scare away the karankawa. Then I would make a house out of wood and put straw on top of it.After that I would make a shack with my fishing stuff so I could go fishing.
